Siete Misterios Mezcal
Mezcal can most easily be explained as tequila that is made from smoked agave, just as Scotch is made from smoked barley. Until recent years, most people only knew of tequila through mass marketing of liquor companies. Mezcal is more of an artisanal spirit. For this reason, it tends to be expensive. Someone who does not know about the spirit might think why they would spend $50 or more on something to just do shots of or mix with lime juice?
When you come across a great mezcal, you will understand why it is not for doing shots, or mixing. It is to be sipped, savored, enjoyed slowly, just like any fine whiskey.
