Prior to opening Razza in Jersey City, the owners claimed this corner of Maplewood Avenue, and its no wonder why it is also in our Top 10 list of best pizzas on the planet.

The pizza is Napolitan style, cooked in a brick oven, and the dough makes a crust that is hard to find anywhere, except of course, their other restaurant Razza in Jersey City.

During lunch they have a number of Italian salads and sandwiches. But what you really want to come here for the pizza and other dishes.

Their fire-roasted meatballs are fantastic. This comes from someone who find 99% of the meatballs I taste just seem to be rubbery garbage. Not in this case. You can clearly taste the freshness and how quality ingredients just elevate something simple to the next level.

Another favorite is the Cavatelli Siciliani.  It is one of the most delicious pasta dishes I’ve ever had.  I rarely order pasta out because I cook so much of it at home but their combination of chiles, capers, anchovies and pine nuts is something I will always order when I am there.

Other seasonal ingredients gathered by local farmers bring the best raw ingredients that can be found to create a new menu every season.

Thy do not take reservations, and seating is limited. It is a first come, first serve basis, so be prepared to wait, even when you don’t think it would typically be busy.  It is worth it.  It is BYOB, so you can bring your own wine, so you can get started on that in the waiting area outside before you are seated.
